The world famous national parks of Kenya.
Kenya is one of the world's traditional safari destinations and has some of the world's best game reserves. It is also home to one of natures most awe inspiring migrations, The annual wildebeest migration (from Maasai Mara to the Serengeti). Here is a short list of some of Kenya's world famous national parks which number 23 in total.
The
Masai Mara National Reserve is featured repeatedly on the National Geographic channel, this very large game reserve is possibly the most famous and well known worldwide. It is home to an annual saga that sees hundreds of thousands of wildebeest, zebras, and Thompson gazelles embark on a migration( called the Great Migration) from it's sister park across the border,The Serengeti. the scale of the migration and the number involved across vast Savannah and grasslands ( 9,700 sq miles, between the two parks) is awe inspiring.
Aberdare National Park is a park with somewhat moderate climate, it is home to hundreds of species of birds as well as the big fauna. The park has many landscapes, including valleys, rivers, waterfalls and mountain peaks.
Tsavo East National Park is a major game park located on the main road from Nairobi to Mombasa. The park has large herds of elephants and other wildlife. and is easily accessible. hence the large number of safari goers that visit it every year. This park is where the “The Man-eaters of Tsavo” legend took place...
Lake Nakuru National Park has the worlds most extensive population of flamencos , it is also home to some 400 species of birds or more. this is one of two Premium category parks in Kenya, along with Amboseli National Park.
Other prominent national reserves in the country include: Nairobi National Park, Meru National Park, Lake Elementaita, Sibiloi National Park which are a UNESCO world heritage sites
