World landmarks with a hair-raising experience for visitors 3

Across the world,are some hair raising tourist attractions, that are oddly enough, visited by millions every year fr that same reason, in this series we will cover a few of these landmarks and what makes them both spooky, and a magnet for visitors.

Yosemite National Park, the Half Dome:

Rising nearly 5,000 feet above Yosemite Valley and 8,800 feet above sea level, Yosemite National Park's Half Dome trek is a full day hiking trek that has for a long time attracted adrenaline junkies, trained hikers and amateurs alike. All willing to test themselves to the limit.

the trek requires a permit, which is obtained by lottery during the month of March.

reaching the top requires hours of hiking and trekking, at the end of which climbers have to rely on cables. the climb is treacherous, and gets more and more dangerous as the climbers ascends.

Over the years there were some reported 60 deaths, most of which were due to the slippery rock slabs, or cables up top. climbers have also experienced heart attacks, failed base jumps, and even , although rarely,lightning strikes. So this is not for the unprepared and the faint of heart.

The cables are one of the most dangerous parts, and take patience and preparedness. hikers are advised to take their time and be patient when behind slower climbers. Allow faster climbers to go by when possible and stay on the inside of the cables... Picking the right time and weather conditions is important, to make the slabs and the cables less slippery. It is ill advised to make the climb when the cables are down for the winter.

Being prepared helps, such as with good footwear that provides good traction and less blisters and ankle injuries. Water is another important ingredient.

Hikers are encouraged to respect the environment and cause the least amount of disruption possible, and no littering.

For those who can brave the climb, the views are definitely worth it. Views of the Vernal and Nevada Falls, Liberty Cap, and even the High Sierra and the Yosemite Valley, are breath taking.
